Ambassador of Georgia met with the students of The Hague Academy of International Law to commemorate the 11 years since Russia-Georgia August 2008 war

On August 7, to commemorate the 11 years since Russia-Georgia August 2008 war, Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. George Sharvashidze welcomed the students of The Hague Academy of International Law summer course at the Embassy.

During the meeting, Ambassador emphasized important facts about Russia-Georgia war and provided students with information about the current situation in occupied regions of Georgia. 11 years since the Russia-Georgia war the Russian Federation has not implemented the EU mediated 12 August 2008 Ceasefire Agreement and continues violating its international obligations.

His Excellency talked about the security and human rights situation in the occupied territories. The grave human rights infringements in both in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions include but are not limited to gross violations of rights to freedom of movement and residence and property.

Also during the meeting Ambassador showed students special video about the occupation of Georgian territories.
