On May 27, Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. George Sharvashidze held a discussion with the students of Groningen University, faculty of Law and International Relations. The discussion was organized in the framework of the Independence Day Celebration by the Young Ambassador of Georgia to the Netherlands, Erekle Koplatadze. Erekle is a Master’s Degree student of Groningen University.
During the discussion Ambassador highlighted the foreign policy goals of Georgia, the security issues in the region and Europe and connections between them. His Excellency talked about ongoing and already implemented important reforms in Georgia, economic development and Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process as well as EU-Georgia Association Agreement and Eastern Partnership was the main topic of the lecture.
Ambassador, H.E. George Sharvashidze emphasized important facts about Russia-Georgia war. Special attention was paid to the difficult security, human rights and humanitarian situation in the occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) regions, as well as to the alarmingly increasing number of illegal detentions and deprivation of life.
Also during the meeting with the Ambassador students from different countries had a chance to get information about Georgia’s history, culture, traditions and tourism potential.
