Parliament Speaker Visit in the States General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
On 5 December 2022, The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili visited the States General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands where he met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Vera Bergkamp and the President of the Senate, Jan Anthonie Bruijn.
The parties underlined 30th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the countries and cooperation in the bilateral and multilateral formats, emphasizing the enhancement of parliamentary links, including at the Committee level.
The Speaker highlighted the Georgia-Netherlands parliamentary twinning project, aiming at the enhancement of parliamentary oversight on public finances and intensification of fiscal administration. Speaker Papuashvili introduced to his Dutch counterparts the progress achieved by Georgia in terms of compliance with the EU recommendations.
The Dutch MPs welcomed the efforts of Georgia at the EU aspiration path and pledged their support to our country in this process.
The parties discussed the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its grave consequences, as well as the developments in the South Caucasus region. They spoke about importance of supporting Ukraine.
The Parliamentary Delegation, headed by the Speaker was composed of MPs: Maka Botchorishvili, Giorgi Amilakhvari, Khatia Tsilosani, Rima Beradze, Elguja Gotsiridze and Khatuna Samnidze.
